i am familiar with ERD from oconus stations, but in doing research on the internet, i couldnt find any info on conus stations. My husband is usaf stationed in texas. My home of record is Alaska, which is considered overseas. We are divorcing, can i get an ERD to my overseas home of record? I know they do it for foreign born spouses but what about AK and HI? I went to family services on our base, and they acted like they didn't know what i was talking about.

  1. Yes, much of what was stated above is true..  HOWEVER, as long as your divorce is not final, you are still a dependant and are entitled to everything a dependant is entitled to until the divorce decree is signed and official.  So just because you are going through a divorce doesn't mean you should be treated like an outsider because you are still a dependant until your not..  As for the ERD, that is something legal would have a better answer to and as a dependant you have the right to see them..  I caution however they will not touch your divorce case as it is a civil matter and the military doesn't like to get involved with such issues.  Dont ask finance, they will process anything the orders are writen for so they wont know.  The other people you should talk to is Outbound assignments at your local military personel section or MPS.  They are also the people that deal with ERD's and will know more than maybe even legal does.  But I would still consult both agencies.  Hope this helps.
