  1. fighter pilots earn alot but if u want money, go into commercial. BA captains on long-haul are earning $200,000+ annually

  2. Fighter pilots do not earn as much as commercial pilots but there are more perks and facilities

    The pride......is amazing

    You need a great physique

  3. ur dream can come true in both ways ,,,,either to join military set up or be a commercial pilot. bit i know that in military salaries are very low as compare to commercial .another things ,,,,,how you will sleep if u bomb innocent kids and people ,,,,while piloting a military plane,,,,,,one shud think Hiroshima,Nagasaki,Vietnam,Cambodia,Iraq... and Afghanistan. hope u understand.

  4. Today from what I have been told, commercial airlines take retired pilots from the military more often than they do someone straight from school because it is believed to be safer.

So I might almost suggest joining the Air Force for several years.

But honestly, the decision of whether or not you want to join is not up to me, nor anyone else on these forums.

You have to make that descision on your own because you will always hear different stories regarding the military.

Some say it's bad, others say it's good; you won't know for yourself until you experience it.

  5. Airline Pilot Top Salary: £100,000 +

RAF Pilot Top Salary: £33,000 +

You must have an exceptional bill of health, with excellent, full colour eyesight.

You must also have overwhelming passion for what you are doing.

I have listed some links below, thEY should come in handy. Please read them in full, and browse the website. This should make your decision easier.

  6. Every profession is well paid in aviation.

But salaries are never stable this is all demand and supply.

  7. You need an engineering degree and be in top physical shape...It would be rare if you ever flew military.

  8. this is my best advice ...

  9. Military salaries are deceptive (they seem low, but they are not that bad), especially if you are in their quarters and don't have to pay for housing. Lets just say you shouldn't have a problem making living money in the services, though you might not be able to afford a BMW or something like that. Also, your pay is based more on pay grade and rank than profession.

Make sure you meet the qualifications of a military pilot and get a guarantee in writing from the recruiter that you will be able to go to flight school (requires passing tests and stuff).

The best thing about the military is you can get a lot of flight hours on their tab and you look better to commercial job prospects. It is absolutely possible to go the civilian route to get into the same jobs though. Another thing to keep in mind is that military pilots typically required to serve for long careers in the military because of the cost of their training, so you'll be in for a while (you won't be able to be a fighter pilot and then get out in 5 years like most troops).
