One of my friends is in the airforce and he left the 22 of July for basic training. So he told me that he would write me and it's been 2 weeks. And i was wondering if there were waiting periods before he could write me?

Any information would be helpful

thanks!

  1. A trainee has a lot of time to write even on training.

  2. No there are no waiting periods for letters being mailed. The military instructor doesnt have any control on limiting or mailing letters. They regualrily go to the post office and base exchange to get supplies and to take breaks so everyone can mail letters. The first couple of weeks is  busy for the trainees getting intot he mind set and what they have to deal with and learn. You should be getting letters soon, as they settle into training.

    Best Wishes,

  3. hey there

i live in aust and am planning to join the ADF hopefully soon-

basically form what people have told me and what i have heard is that sometime the first 2-3 weeks of where they are training can be very full on-i know in australia that days can go from about 6am-10/10:30pm not to mention that they must be ready by 6 am

i am sure your friend might just be getting used to the flow of the day and once this first inital period is over i reckon he'll start writing-dont stress mate you'll get a letter soon!

do you have his adress at the military base where hes training? maybe you could write him one first if not just stick it out once this first 3 week period is over it should all settle down back ito the letter writing

    hope your friend goes well

    have a great day

  4. We were allowed to write in our "free" time and we didn't get any free time until the second Sunday.  There was always a toilet that needed scrubbing, etc.  Your friend has been working his butt off since he got there.  Doesn't mean you can't write to him...he'd love to hear from you, I'm sure...any news and encouragement is greatly appreciated.  You might want to contact his mom to get his address.

  5. That's odd. My boyfriend/fiance was able to send his first letter the second day of BMT.

It seems that the instructors are able to control the time and day they can check their mail. ( My bf had to do pull-ups in order to "earn" my letters.) However, they are able to write at night when everyone goes to bed.. Other than that, they are too busy.. though there are a few recreational time where he would have the time to write.

If you have his address, you could try sending a letter first..

By the way, just for extra information.. They have to wake up at 4:30 am everyday and go to bed late. They are also not told what the date is during BMT. And during the training, they're allowed to make one 10 minute call.. So they can call their family or loved ones.

I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, so it's possible that the drill instructor might have control over it..

  6. Basic Training is an extremely busy time.. he may not have had the time or energy to write that much... dont worry about it.

  7. ok truthfully i just got out of working there...trainees arent there to write letters they are there to train but they get to write about their second week of training some write before that depending on their ti...their ti doesnt mail the letters out they mail them out themselves but it is a privelage they have to earn ....

  8. He can write whenever at night after lights out. But his TI doesnt have to mail those letters out. When i went thru basic training in the AF my folks didnt get half my letters and the ones they got didnt come until 3rd almost 4th week.

  9. THE FIRST THREE OR FOUR WEEKS OF BASIC IS VERY HECTIC. YOUV"E GOT PEOPLE SCREEMING AT YOU FROM ALL DIRECTIONS.SO DON'T GIVE UP. ONCE THING SETTLE-DOWN HE WILL WRITE.
