  1. I'm 15 and I take flying lessons. I've been flying since I was 13. I've heard the same thing your hearing. I'm not going to let it ruin what I want to do. I've wanted to be an airline pilot since I was 5. I've came as far as taking lessons, and I'm not going to stop now. Email me if you want to talk about flying at your age. I can probally help you out or something.

  2. They won't be outdated. Planes are the safest means of the quickest travel, at the moment. I don't believe anything in our life time will beat it. I don't believe jets will be used popularly for average travel to beat typical planes.

  3. dude im 13 and i wanna be a pilot 2 u should use fsx if u like this stuff

  4. Good for you Jordan- it is never to soon to be thinking and planning for your future.   I work for Boeing and I know that we plan to continue building airplanes for a long time.

Airplanes are getting more technologically advanced all the time and what you see flying around today may not look the same in 20 years (maybe that is what your dad was saying?).

Probably the best route to take if you want to be a pilot is to go into the airforce- most of the pilots I know started there.

Would it surprise you if I told you that you are probably old enough now to take ground school ?.  Check with one of the small airfields in your area- many have classes you can take.  You can also join an air cadet organization.

If you are really interested start looking into your options now so you can be sure to take the right classes in school etc..

    Good luck!

  5. Planes are the FUTURE of Travel, go for it! start now, you can a pilots liscense at your age. The younger the better. I'm an airline dispatcher-I know. Start now and by the time your 25 you'll be making Mega bucks, you may want to consider going to the military to fly also, good luck

  6. Just look at how many billions of dollars were put into airbus a380 and boeing 777 dreamliner orders that will be delivered over then next 12-15 years. That means those planes once an airline gets them will be flying them for years. Also airports are ading runways and makin new turminals to support the new planes that are ten years out.  Trust me and everyone else here air travel will not be replaced for a very long time....and if it does everyone will be aware of the replacement and there will be a transition period like between trains to planes back in the day.

  7. Jordan,

If you want to be a pilot, go for it. We will be using airplanes for a very very long time. In the future they might not look like they look today, but they will still be airplanes. Im a private pilot, the aviation industry has never been better than now. You will always have people telling you they don't think is good. They truth is that they just don't have a clue how the aviation industry is right now!

You have no idea how many people tried to hold me from choosing this career, and i have to tell you something.. Thanks god i did not listen to them! Don't blame them, trust me it is not their fault. Its just that they don't really know what's going on. You focus on what YOU want to do, and work hard for it. If you work hard, people will COME TO YOU, they will BEG you to work for them. Delta, Continetal, American, UPS, you name it.

I can see that you are already in a very good path by just looking at how you make your research on your own, that's something we don't see very often on a person of your age!. You are a smart kid, and Im sure you will make the right decision.

    Hope this helps!

  8. I say go for it. You'll have to be 16 to solo, and 17 to get your certificate. You can train before then, though if you want.

There are still planes 50 years old flying. So, I don't think the planes you fly in will be outdated by the time you become a pilot.  Its a lot of fun, too...
