Question:

Airline Ticket Expiration Date?

Hi, my unused airline ticket expired July 24, 2008. BUT, on July 24, I called Delta to use my unused ticket and they said that the ticket is expired. So I wrote to Customer Service and they said that it is also expired. In my ticket, it says Expiration: 7/24/2008. I'm under the impression that 7/24/2008 is the LAST day I can use the ticket before it loses it's value. Am I correct? I even checked with a dictionary and it says "the last date" a product may be used.

  1. It expires ON July 24.  You could have used it up till midnight on the 23rd.

  2. NOT clearly says: EXPIRED! That means it was the last day you can use it, i.e. fly!

Then of course DL will not allow you to book it as you had NO time left until mid-night EST that July 24th!

FYI: Airline tickets expire either one year from issue date (the date you bought it) or first leg departure!

  3. how can it expired when you bought it this year of july?  you have one year from the issue date before your ticket expires.

  4. Anytime it says expired and a date, once that date comes into effect, it's expired... so anytime before that date... the last possible minute you could have used it would have been 11:59pm on the 23rd.
