  1. for sizes, i recommend you check the websites of each airline you are flying,

checked baggage can't exceed 32 kilos or 65 pounds, if the suitcase exceeds this weight they can refuse to book it.

hand luggage shouldd not exceed 25 pounds or 12 kilos.

  2. I have worked in the travel business for a long time and to answer your questions...as the previous person wrote the height plus width plus length can not exceed 45 inches on carry on bags. The max weight for checked luggage is 50 pounds and the max weight for carry on luggage is 40 pounds.

  3. You can carry on one bag plus one personal item per passenger as long as:

The combined weight does not exceed 40 lbs/18 kgs

The bag is no more than 45 inches and the personal item is no more than 36 inches when you add the length + width + height so that it fits in an overhead bin or under the seat

  4. 45 linear inches--height plus width plus depth.

The usual weight limit is 50 pounds per bag.

  5. I'm not sure about Japan Airlines, you may want to check their website. I know American Airlines weight limit on luggage is 50lbs. If you have a suitcase that weighs more than that then you'll have to pay an extra fee. As for the carry on it's the size of a small gym bag. Guesstimate of about 24in long. and 12 inches tall. Maybe a little bigger because we always take a back pack and it works fine.
