  1. Good job hummingbird but not very specific and incorrect.

For domestic flights within the US it is 30 minutes before the plane's departure but be sure to be there around 45 minutes before to check everything. Ex= go up to the counter and verify your seat etc..

For international flights it is 45 minutes because of the quantity of the passengers on those kind of flights.

Hope I helped and bon voyage =]

  2. about 15-20 minutes before you take off.( i have seen 1 hour before for malaysia airline, but that was just once)

  3. Usually 20 minutes before takeoff. But it depends on the airline. That is for domestic flights in US, not sure about international flights.

  4. The correct answer ultimately depends on the airline, the destination, and the type of aircraft being boarded.  A good rule of thumb is that boarding will begin thirty minutes before the listed departure time, but international flights will often board earlier if there is the requirement for gate staff to check passports before boarding the plane.  Many airlines flying widebody jets often start boarding 40 minutes before or more, if only because the widebody jets seat more passengers and, therefore, take longer to board.  In either of these instances, the goal is to generally have everyone boarded and the door shut by 10 to 15 minutes before the listed departure time.

Smaller planes -- such as commuter jets and turboprops -- can be boarded in less time.  For example, Horizon Air, which flies turboprops that seat no more than about 75 people, begins boarding its flights at 20 minutes or so before departure.

In any event, you'll probably not want to go far from your gate within about 45 minutes before your listed departure time (and definitely not within 30 minutes).
