  1. Your information is listed on the plane's manifest. The airline has to submit that to the authorities 48 hours prior to departure. If you have any issues, US authorities may deny you entry. You will need to catch the next plane home. This applies to all airlines.

  2. Hi. You do NOT NEED a Visa if you are going to spend less than 90 days in the U.S.A, Portugal is amongst the countries where the national citizens do not need a Visa if they are going to spend less than 90 days in the U.S.A. All you need is a round ticket (max. 90 days of touristic stay) and an optical/digital passport. If you are going to travel with a regular passport you do need the visa, so, my advice, get the optical one (75 euros + -) Same thing here works for the american citizens visiting Portugal (or other countries that are in the same program of the visa exceptions) Thats the most practical way.Hope it helps. Bye (and you don't need to give any informations to the airline other than the one that your optical passport transmits, when you'll land in the U.S it will be given to you same papers to fill but no problem there, just legal issues)
