Question:

Airline ticket needed for toddler?

I am planning a flight for our one week vacation. My toddler will turn two during the trip, right before we fly back. Do I have to buy him a ticket? (I have flown before with him and he was free since he was on my lap, and I know he would be free if we returned before his birthday, but what do airlines do when the toddler is under two on a departing flight but 2 on the return flight)? I am of course planning to call the airline on Monday but was wondering if anyone knew...

  1. Should still be free if he will be in your lap.  I think they start charging at 3 anyway.  Good Luck!

  2. They charge by the seat. so as long as he sits in your lap and is under 4 (i think) you shouldn't have to pay

  3. even you can search on website

  4. Well, the rule is two years or older, buy a seat. But you could probably claim he's not yet two, hold him in your lap, pay nothing, and be fine. But they can ask for birth certificate (to verify age) and if they do you will have a real problem., because the ticket you will have to buy will be a one-way walk-on fare.
