Airline ticket typo?

Do you have to pay to change a name on an airline ticket when the name is off by 1 letter?

Ex:

Instead of the name ending ALES (correct)

it says ELES.

  1. I doubt you can change the name at all. It would mean buying another ticket.

  2. This happened to me a few weeks ago, and I didn't realize the spelling of my name was incorrect until I printed my boarding pass at the airport. An extra letter was added to my name, and it wasn't even noticed.

  3. Check with your airline. They may not change the ticket but still let you use it as you need ID and everything except the typo will match up. In fact when they check your ID they mightn't even notice the typo. I have had this happen and they have checked photo ID etc. and it has been clear it is me. Take more than formal ID, take bills etc. with name and address that match with details from ticket purchase.

Contact them and ask what your options are. Often a question with just a possible YES NO response is not the best question to ask.  You could get an automatic No and be stuck.

ASK WHAT IS CALLED AN OPEN ENDED QUESTION.

Contact them and tell them that somehow there has been a typo on the ticket where one letter only in your name is wrong. (By the way was it your fault or theirs? Don't bring up the issue of blame if it was definitely yours.)

Ask them what THEY would advise you to do.

You will usually find them far more helpful with this approach.

  4. they won't give you new ticket, but you need to call airline right away, they will make notation on their computer, and you will be okay , it is more important with inter nation travel, but i still recommend you call for a domestic flight,  better be sure then sorry
