Airline ticket where you don't use the return?

Is there any problem buying an airline ticket where you know you're not going to use the return. I am looking at a three-leg trip on NWA where the price is $1350 with tax for the first two flights, but if you add the third one it drops down to $650. Will they find me out and bust me?

  1. As long as its the LAST leg, you are probably OK.    If its prior to that, if you skip a step, the rest of the ticket is canceled.  You didn't say if all legs were on the same day/trip, if so, there is a chance they will come back to you, but you can probably come up with some reason why you planned to abandon travel.  Depending on where you are, for example, you could say you met a boy/girl and planned to finish up by train....

  2. Yes many airlines have policies against this - by entering a big city as the final destination and flying to it, airlines will charge you significantly less money. If you plan on doing this once, you'll probably get away. BUT, if you do it more than once, they will most likely pick up on it and have the right to do a lot of fun things - like voiding out your frequent flyer miles or something to that effect.
