Airlines are looking for colleg deg. from pilots. Is it a must to do something related to aviation in college?

Not necessary to be aviation related, but technical would be good. There is a heavy metal rocker who moonlights as a flight captain.

Hello, let me go straight to the point:

If you want to be a pilot, the way to go is getting a degree in something NOT related to aviation. Why?, in case the industry goes down and jobs get extremely limited. As long as it is a Bachelor's Degree, you will be a top choice for the airlines.

There are two schools of thought on this. Some will say that an aviation related major would be the way to go. Others might insist that you major in someting totally unrelated to aviation. In case the flying thing doesn't work out, you'll have something that might be helpful in other fields.

In the end, the airlines really don't care what your major was, just that you've completed college.

In fact, most entrants to this occupation have a college degree. Because the number of college applicants continues to increase, many airlines are making a college degree an educational requirement. For example, test pilots often are required to have an engineering degree.

No. I know an airline pilot who majored in chemistry. I also know other pilots who majored in something that has nothing to do with flying. The airlines just want you to have a degree becuase it shows that you're a trainable person. But, try to major in something that you might be able to use, like meteorology or aerospace engineering.
