Do you know of any airlines that are letting 12 year olds be the chaporone [spelling?] of 9 year olds? You know, after that kid got left in the airport... or whatever.

Note - this is only for Canadian Airlines...

  1. An unnacompanied minor is anyone under the age of 14 it is a federal regulation. The 2 however can go as a pair of unnacompanied minors. They will be with someone who works for the airline at all times they are in the airport or on the plane without their guardian.

  2. None I know of will permit this.

The minimum age for a person accompanying a child of 11 years or younger is 16 on Air Canada and its affiliates. If the person is less than 16 then the 11 years or less child is treated as an unaccompanied minor.

Westjet and Canjet do not accept unaccompanied minors.

Skyservice and Air Transat  consider persons age 13 to 17 as youth, and they can travel alone, but the airlines want the child of 12 or under to be accompanied by a full adult, of 18 or older.

  3. there are no Canadian airlines that I know of that will allow a 12 year-old to be the chaperon of a 9 year-old. what you can do is list them as minors traveling together in which case the cabin crew will provide extra assistance to them during the flight just like if you had one minor traveling alone.

you have to do the usual with them. bring them to the airport, check them in, prove you are their parents or that you have parental permission all that.
