Airmount Swank to swing back into form in the Press Irish Oaks Round 1 Heat 7 at Shelbourne Park
Shelbourne Park will become home for the Sporting Press Irish Oaks Round 1 Heat 7 over 525 yards flat on Saturday, 26th May. Contesting for taking away the €100 prize money are Beaming Olive, Milldean Tally, Airmount Swank, Highview Molly, Mossend
Jade and Smoke Pixie.
In terms of winning and getting trained recently, it is Airmount Swank, Kiowa Sweet Trey’s three-year-old black daughter out of b***h, Water Girl, who is leading the line-up for the race tonight.
Provided that the hound has been active during two seasons, she is quite lightly raced. Her two training sessions during 2011 finally enabled her to post a win through the final race of the previous season.
She was the 4/7 favourite winner of the Grade A4 15 Platter Package 525 on 18th July at Harold’s Cross. She raced through the wire in 29.50 seconds and led the runner up of the race, Glown Bound, by a length.
The runner up concluded the racing affair in 29.58 seconds and was soon followed by Trasher Bound.
Her entry into the new season was pleasant as she claimed the seasonal debut and created an impact as soon as entering the new campaign.
On 28th April she won a 525 yards race in 28.38 seconds. The runner up of the race, Lacken Rua, was left adrift by two lengths. She was then successful in a 525 yards race on 5th May. Airmount Swank reached the other end of the wire
in 28.75 seconds and led the runner up of the race, Lacken Rua, by one and a half lengths.
This was a second straight time that Lacken Rua ended the closest to Airmount Swank and by connecting the win from the last year to the pair of wins in the new season, she had struck a career hat trick.
She failed to extend it any further as the third start of the season on 12th May had her finishing third in a 525 yards race. The race was won by Tyra Cool who managed the track distance in 28.66 seconds.
Having come right out of a training session on 19th May at Shelbourne Park over 525 yards and timing it in 29.37 seconds, enhances her chances of grabbing the race today.
