Question:

Airplane Flight Plan Question?

by  |  earlier

I have a friend who instead of birdwatching enjoys airplane watching. He sits in his yard and uses binoculars for viewing airplanes flying overhead. What would be a good choice of binocular for him to use? Also is there any way to find out what type of airplane and when it will fly over his house? Thanks.

  1. I recommend a pair of image stabilized binoculars if he wants to spend the money. They're still a bit pricey although they've come down somewhat lately. The difference is amazing when you activate the gyro stabilizer. Makes watching things at a distance and/or moving things a lot easier.

Cabela's sells them as well as some other outfitters. They start at about $300.00.

  2. Any type of binoculars are good....Not the cheap kind though.

Tell him to get a camera and upload them to http://www.airliners.net.

    Here is a flight tracker....http://www.flightaware.com

He can study and read airplanes to figure out what plane is flying over him.

I enjoy that hobby as well.

    Best of luck!
