Quick question. I am working towards getting my ground instructor basic rating. Once I do I was wondering if anyone knows of where I can get a syllabus or approved FAA syllabus for classroom teaching. Not all that great at putting together powerpoints and what not.

  1. So far as I can see looking at your profile, you don't even have a PPL yet.

I doubt that the system in the US is any different to ours in Australia. First you learn to fly, on a student license. Then you do your PPL, which is where you appear to be at the moment. After that, you can do an instructors' rating, and that's not all that easy.

Then you qualify as a low grade basic instructor, whatever it may be called over there. Lots more flying and training, you might progress to a grade 1.

Your FAA, I'm sure, would have a copy of the training syllabus on their site. Our organisation, CASA, certainly does.

Lack of skills in powerpoint or whatever does not impede your ability to teach.

The important thing is you should thoroughly understand the subject, both the theory and the practice.
