Airplane Laws?? My niece 15 years old?

Will they let my 15 year old neice fly on a plane alone if I purchase the ticket online and give her the confirmation number??

  1. Under ordinary circumstances, yes, she can travel as an Unaccompanied Minor.

    But, where are her parents? Why is she picking up her ticket by herself?  These are just a couple of questions the folks at the ticket counter will ask her.  

    It would be best if one of her parents or a LEGAL guardian accompany her to pick up her ticket, explain who will be picking her up at her final destination, etc.  She will also need an ID card or Passport or other form of identification.

    Your best bet is to contact your airline of choice and see what their requirements for minors traveling unaccompanied might be.


  2. They should allow it with no problems. You can also go on-line if you are using SouthWest Airlines and get her boarding pass issued 24 hours before the plane departs.

    I would think Continental and other airlines have the same program. She will need some form of picture ID and you will have to call the airline company's customer service line to find out what ID a 15 year old can bring to get them onto the aircraft.
