  1. Yes we women can still bring our purse. You can bring shampoos, conditioners, body washes, make up...etc. of any size in your checked luggage. All liquids and gels must be 3 ounces or less and put in a clear plastic zip lock bag if you intend to carry them in your carry on. I'm sure you know you can't bring knives, or any sharp objects in your carry on - fingernail clippers are fine. Lip glosses and chap stick have to be 3 ounces or less including perfumes and body sprays if they will be in your carry on.

    Hope I helped :).

  2. http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

This is the nation's website for flight travel and what you can take on and what you can't. But, if it's checked, you can basically take anything legal. Even firearms, if they're declared and in a locked gun case (beware though, they'll throw them around like parade candy so make sure it's sighted in properly when you get where you're going). If you're not hunting, you don't have to worry about it though.

As far as what you can take on the plane, it's considered one carry-on item (an actual suitcase that they will go through like crazy), and a "personal item", like a purse.

It's much easier to check baggage though. and if you check more than one bag, most airlines (except Southwest) charge an additional baggage check fee.

  3. You are right. You cannot bring liquids, gels and aerosols in your carry-on unless they are 3 oz or less. However, you can put them in your checked luggage. (Which is what I recommend you do...) For things like lipgloss, small bottle of purell, medication that you might want with you, you can put them in a clear ziploc bag up to a gallon in size. I always keep mine at the very top of my carry-on so that I have quick and easy access to it (they will ask you to remove it before your carry-on goes through the X-Ray).

Also, a purse counts as a "personal item" with every airline I've ever flown with. I wouldn't bring an obnoxiously large one, but it's definately allowed within reason. (Obviously, your purse's contents have the same restrictions as your carry-on.)

Have fun at the beach! :]

  4. You can put anything legal in your checked luggage- if you have guns, though, you have to declare them.

For carry on you can bring any liquid/gel under 3 ounces, and anything else you might want (magazine, book, ipod, etc.).  If you're not sure if you can carry something on, your best bet is to just check it or leave it at home.  They don't mess around, if you have something that isn't permitted for carry-on they'll just throw it out.

About the purse- you can only have one carry on bag, so if you have a purse and a backpack there may be a problem.
