  1. Depends how you want to get there. To become an airline pilot, your best bet will be to attend an integrated diploma/degree-flight program offered by a college or university. The grades and courses required varies from program to program.

Or, you can, if you really wanted to, drop out of high school and build a lot of hours. Without high school, you will likely need 2 or 3 times as many flying hours as the next guy to be hired, but you won't be barred from an airline job.

Be warned about how much pay is available. $50,000/yr to $150,000/yr only applies to airlines. You will need at least 2,000 flight hours to apply to an airline. Getting those first 2,000 hours could take anywhere from two to ten years at pay of less than $20,000/yr. Low time pilots literally make peanuts... but its a step all airline pilots once had to take.

  2. Pay for pilots

  3. Courses at the HS level would be science, math and shop/mechanics.

It's never too early to begin taking online courses or college courses on aviation.  Go to your local airport and talk to an instructor about single engine lessons.

Pay varies greatly.  Expect to start at about 50,000/yr with potential up to 140,000/yr.  Great benefits and early retirment.

Consider Air Force, Army, Navy or Coat Guard with a military occupation in aviation.
