Airplane plug are they free?

recently i have seen plugs on airplane are they free? i saw one in Air Canada are they free? does it work on my DS Lite Charger? i think the plugs are 110V

  1. Some airlines have this feature available to passengers, but most do not.  For instance, Virgin America does this at no charge.  However not all airlines do.  If it is available, it is typically standard 110v AC just like what comes out of your wall sockets.

    My warning is this:  For airlines that do not give this service away free, be VERY sure what you are plugging into.  Most (though not all) airplanes use 115v three-phase AC through their electrical outlets.  This can fry some sensitive electronics.  Don't plug anything into an airplane you are not willing to live without.


  2. Your charger is a transformer and providing that you can physically plug into the socket, it will work OK.
