Okay so I'm 15 and flying alone tomorrow. I've flown before but never alone. I kind of forgot what to do. I'm not checking any luggage, just taking carry on. What are the steps to follow while in the airport? Thanks

  1. Here is what you do:

    1. go to the right terminal and check in at the airline counter (you can go on the airport's website to find out which terminal your airline is in...)

    2. present your e-ticket (or that email printout with your flight info and confirmation number on it) along with a photo ID (i dont think you are flying international) the ticket agent will give you a boarding pass.

    3. show the agents at the security checkpoint your boarding pass and photo ID (government issued ID prefered, but current school ID should work too) and go thru security.

    4. find your gate. the number should be printed on your boarding pass, but if its not there, you can look on the departures monitor for your gate. You just have to know your airline and your flight number

then you just wait for them to open the doors for boarding.

and dont forget, never leave your stuff unattended. always bring it with you. If you have any questions, you can ask any airport employee or any airline employee.

  2. I'm 15, and I too am flying tomorrow. And coincidently, I'm going alone. I'm going to Chicago Midway. But anyway, if you are going non-stop, and you know your way around the airport you are going to, then you def. don't need to waste any money on unaccompanied minor charges. Since I know my way round Midway, and its a non-stop flight, I'm not going to waste any money on the charges. If it isn't non-stop, and you have to connect to another flight, and you think you might get lost in the airport while making a connection, then you should pay the unaccompanied minor charge.

but after you get through that at the ticketing counter.

you go through security, get to the gate, board the plane, fly to another airport, land, and get of the plane. If you have to make a connection, then you walk from the gate you land at, to the other gate where your plane is landing. You might have to switch concourses to do this. If this is your final destination, then you go meet your party where you told them to meet you.

  3. You get to the airport and find the checkin counter.

    You wait in line.

You give your information to the attendant and they issue you a boarding pass.

Since you are 15, you might need a parent along or at least a "permission to fly alone" letter.  They may need to have already made "unaccompanied minor" arrangements.

Then you pass through the security checkpoint.

    That  means waiting in line.

Take off your shoes, put all your stuff on the conveyor belt,

Pick it up when it comes out the other side,

    put your shoes back on,

    find your gate.

When your flight is called, go to the door to the plane.

    Wait in line.

    Get on the plane.

    That's about it.

You'll have to find whoever is meeting you at the other end, so you arrange a meeting place.  They may or may

not be able to come to the gate, since it is past the security

checkpoint, beyond which is "passengers only".
