  1. do they really do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I agree with the first answer. They do have the right to check your ipod for stuff. But there is no way to tell.

But don't worry, they don't have time to check every single ipod for stuff. If they did, they would have piles and piles of ipods at the airport.

If you don't want to avoid this, than just simply put your ipod in bag and don't take it out.

  3. No they dont - they normally don't even have you turn it on.

A computer must be taken out of it's bag and put through the x-ray in a tub by itself.  I'm not sure if an ipod has to be removed or not from your carryon bag.

Security is there to help ensure a safe flight - not police the copyright laws.

  4. The answer is a qualified yes.  Customs can in fact ask to review the contents on your Ipod, but they have no way of knowing what you have the legal rights to.  What they are looking for is documents that are related to terrorism, financial fraud, etc (remember, your IPod can be used as a hard drive).

That said, the odds are that you won't be the 1 in several hundred selected for a random search so I wouldn't worry.
