Airports and bus stations near Camp Pendleton?

Question

I am hoping to visit my boyfriend and am unsure of where bus stops for the Greyhound or the airports are in this area. Help a clueless Northern Californian?

Also, what are good means of transport if needed in this area? Do you have an idea of price?

Hey there! I know how that all goes!!! I went to see my fiance when he was in camp pendleton...Its so difficult!

firstly, the closest town is oceanside. which somebody already said....and i DO NOT recommend the greyhound bus down there. I would definitely go amtrak. The buses are unclean and full of dangerous people.  Its really scary! Don't do it!  

Local taxis and transit buses are good for getting around town. And depending on which hotel you stay in, some of them have shuttle vans.  Just ask around for which hotels do it.  A lot depends on how long you will be staying.  and how much your planning on spending per night (for the hotel).  Go to lowestfare.com and click hotels....they're the greatest website for us military sweethearts :)  They have the best prices on plane tickets, rental cars, hotels, they have special deals every now and then....I recommend saving it into your favorites!! I have! :)  

The Motel 6 Oceanside is good for if your saving money and only need a basic hotel (if you plan on just sleeping and showering in the room)....otherwise I'd go a little bit more extra for a more comfy space to hang out with your man!

Tripadvisor.com is pretty good about finding hotels also...you can read reviews and see pictures and such at both tripadvisor and lowestfare.com....but lowestfare is still my fav!!

AMTRAK is the preferred method of transportation to the Camp Pendleton area from the Bay Area, if that is where you are from and are willing to pay the additional costs.  The bus is okay and I believe you can travel safely on it to Oceanside.  Both share the same terminal in Oceanside, just about a five minute drive from the main gate of MCB Camp Pendleton.

You can arrange to have a rental car at the ready upon your arrival at the terminal if you desire.  However, there is public transportation (buses and taxis) that are allowed to to transit the base and go to most camps.

Oceanside is the closet station but DO NOT USE GREYHOUND

as you will be RISKING YOUR LIFE  (plus all trips south of

Los Angeles the drivers do NOT work for Greyhound but a contractor

bus service and those drivers DO NOT SPEAK A WORD OF English
