If an airsoft gun shoots 400 fps with a .20 gram BB, what will it shoot with an .25 gram BB, .28 gram BB, or even a .30 gram BB. What one should I use for best accuracy.

Thank You

  1. It will shoot around 320 with .25 gram BB;s, around 260 with .28 BB's and probably a lot slower with .3 gram BB's

  2. the heavier the bb the slower it goes. however the lighter they are, the faster they go, but the more they curve. So if your looking for accuracy go for a .30 gram, if your looking for speed go with a .20 gram. Personally I'd go for something in the middle like the .28 gram, its just as accurate as a .30 but goes a little faster.

  3. Well the heavier the bb is the more accurate it is, but it will lose velocity. Lighter bbs have greater range but are less accurate.

  4. Test the accuracy, lay on your back with your legs open in the air, and put the barrel of the BB gun up to the rim of your @$$hole, and pull the trigger 4 times for each gram of BB.

    Hope it helps!

  5. there is a way to calculate the spring energy using

    Energy(joules) = 1/2 Mass(grams) * Velocity(m/s)^2

    since 1m/s = 3.28 fps it's easy to calc for your gun, I get 121.6m/s and ~1.49J.  Just solve for the other velocity using the constant energy this is what I get

    .20g = 400 fps

    .25g = 358 fps

    .28g = 338 fps

    .30g = 327 fps

    If wind is a factor use the highest weight for the least drift, IMO high fps is overrated since you're shooting hot I would use .25g when wind is "average" and switch to .28g when it gets windy.  .3g gets a bit expensive unless you're the sniper :)

    cheers
