Question:

Airsoft Gun as a Gift?

In April, I am taking a trip to see one of my best friends for his birthday. I bought him an airsoft p90 and want to give it to him as a gift. I want to put it in my checked luggage, because bringing it with me as part of my carry-on luggage would be stupid. Is it legal to put it in it's original box and put the item in my CHECKED luggage?

  1. Check with the airline , If the TSA screening guys see it they WILL , stop you and make you open the bag.

Sorry also,  if you want a chance at hidding it then wrap it in many dark bags and a towel , but they will still see that "spot" , which will be akward if they request you to open it.

  2. Sure.  It's not a firearm.  If it's one of the models that use pressurized gas, just don't bring any propellant.  If it has its own refillable canister, just don't fill it.

Essentially, you're checking a firearm-shaped toy.  The only real issue should be pressurized canisters.

They might want to take a look at the ticket counter or TSA counter just to be sure, but it should be no big thing.  I check real firearms all the time.
