Airsoft gun questions?

I have a few questions, like what kind of bullet; if bullet does it shoot?

and are they pretty accurate? Are they also a good training tool for inexperienced shooters?

I'm thinking about buying an assault rifle to show my brother how to shot before he goes to boot camp.

They are cheaper than the real thing

  1. the range is ridiculusly shorter than a real gun. the design is almost excat to what a real gun is. they are of course lighter than the real thing because they are made of plastic. i would suggest an m16 as a starter. the airsoft gun will only help about 1/2 way to be sxperienced enough to be a real soldeir

  2. They shoot little plastic or metal BBs.The ones for around 100 to 130 shoot at about 350 to 400 feet per second(fps) and they go pretty far. They would be good for practice since you can have airsoft battles without getting hurt, besides a few welts at best. And they are exact replicas of real guns.If you want guns that hurt less trygettingg the cheaper 30 to 60 dollar ones.

  3. airsoft is designed to look like real guns, or more specifically look like guns seen in movies and videogames and anime, and marketed to the Japanese who are into cool techy toys but cannot own firearms.

They act nothing like real guns, do not work like real guns and if they have any real-world training applications, it is quite limited.

Question, why are you showing your brother how to shoot? Were you in the military? Do you think you know more about shooting than the DI who will be training them?  Is it possible your training will actually instill bad habits into your brother?

Why not acquire an AR-15, the REAL firearm, and shoot that.

  4. Airsoft guns come in many different powers, and different ability set, pistols are the easiest to aim, while automatic rifles have the obvious advantage of firing more than one bb. I would look for your first airsoft gun to be in the price range of around £30 ($60), there arent any training tools so to speak but you can get targets and i recomend you shoot at different distances so you can gage where to aim. The bullets they use are called bb's or pellets most common are 6mm and plastic but you can get metal ones for guns with a larger energy capacity 1.0 compared to most lower end of the market ones which are like 0.5, but power isnt everything if you intend to fir at people the lower the power the better (0.5 being the lowest you want) if you're just doing target practice youn want a 0.75 to 1.0 gun. Hopes this helps!

  5. 1. Plastic 6mm BB's. Generally 200 fps for cheap guns, and up to 500 or so for the nice ones.

    2. No, they are not a good training tool for inexperienced shooters.

If you want something to practice marksmanship on, you have two options. 1: buy a .22 or 2: Buy a Mosin Nagant for 90$
