Tauseef Ahmed, the former Test off-spinner, is not satisfied with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037’s performance in the Galle Test and feels that the right-arm fast bowler, Aizaz Cheema would have been a better option.
Sri Lanka outclassed the Men in Green in all the three departments of the game to go 1-0 up in the series. The home side scored a massive total of 472 runs in their first innings and dominated the Pakistani bowling attack.
Galle’s pitch assisted the spinners and offered them spin and bounce from the very first day. Apart from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KMDN-Kulasekara-c1802, none of the fast bowlers from both the teams were able to make a notable impression on the game.
Junaid, who returned to the national team during the Galle Test after nursing a side injury, went wicket-less in the first-innings and looked ineffective.
Talking to Pakpassion, the former cricketer expressed that the Green Shirts have always relied on their fast bowlers and they should look to do the same, although http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691 have bowled out of their skins over the last 18 months.
The 54-year-old is of the opinion that Cheema has done well since making his international debut and should have been included in the first Test.
“For http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 it is important that they have a pace attack that can trouble the batsmen. Junaid to me didn't appear in any sort of form. I think he may have made some changes to his bowling but clearly something was not right. At a time like this I think
Cheema would have been a better option,” said Tauseef.
Junaid however, bowled well in the second innings and picked up three scalps.
The former cricketer is impressed with the effort put in by the Sri Lankan fast bowlers, as Nuwan Pradeep and Kulasekara consistently bowled at high speeds, without giving much in the way loose deliveries.
“I think our bowlers were bowling in the 130 range while the Sri Lankans had some bowlers cross the 140+ mark. Plus on top of that, they [http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758] bowled on the stumps which makes life difficult for any batsman,” the former off-spinner believes.
