There can't be another Murli or Sachin for that matter but I am sure that it was a one time deal and I wonder if the Indians had any scouting/ any plans to face him in the final. Indians should have no trouble facing any spinners in the world because they are the "mother" of all spinning in the world cricket.

He was hugely impressive but has a long way to go before the comparisons can truely start.

The potential was there for all to see yesyterday , but to be the new Murali he still has a lot to prove.

Mendis has long way to go to claim a place in SL team in all forms of the game.

It is 2 early to comment on him as I see he is nothing more than a good prospect.

Just one game doesn't show who's a Murali or who's a Shane Warne.... Yes he bowled magnificently during the Asia Cup final ....but then did Sunil Joshi against South Africa in a opener match.... Why ?? We didn't find Sunil Joshi ever emulate the same stuff again.... Its the surprise element and the subtle variations that made him somewhat unplayable.... Whether he is the next Murali will be seen ...well ...say in 2 years ..... Maybe he will be the Ajantha Mendis maybe.....

yes in a way he is hugely helped by Master Murali by restricting batsman on other side of the wicket

The difference is that he really is not a off-spinner.He is a medium fast bowler who can spin the bowl.His accuracy is great.He bowls wicket to wicket.So, one should not wrap the bowl  on the pad ,as the ball is coming towards the wicket. I believe that it is not that hard to play him, if the batsman can quickly see the ball.Play the ball and do not worry about his fingers.Anil Kumble has the similar deliveries but he would never pass Muralli.I would say the same for Ajantha though he is a great bowler.
