The former AZ Alkmaar hit-man faces yet another spell on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury, and could be missing the initial stages of the Champions League adventure.
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has received some demoralising news from the medical staff, as Kolbeinn Sigthorsson encounters another spell on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury.
The Icelandic ace, who arrived at Amsterdam Arena in the summer of 2011 after making 32 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar, recently sustained a shoulder injury. Further examinations revealed that the 22-year-old has a dislocated shoulder,
and will have to undergo a surgery.
De Joden have announced on their official website that the promising young striker will go under the knife on Friday, and will remain sidelined at least until the winter break.
The Icelandic international missed major part of the 2011/12 campaign due to a fractured ankle, and this shoulder injury is another huge blow to his career at Amsterdam Arena.
The talented hit-man, who has an ongoing contract at De Joden that runs until the summer of 2015, has thus far only made 15 league appearances and netted eight goals while donning the jersey of the Amsterdam giants.
Although, the injury to Sigthorsson is a huge blow for the Amsterdammers, it seems unlikely that they will be missing the youngster’s presence.
