La Liga outfit still 2 million Euros short of luring the 23-year-old away from Amsterdam Arena, while the Dutch stopper has his mind set on joining Los Che.
Reports from Amsterdam Arena confirm that Ajax Amsterdam have turned down Valencia’s latest offer to signing Gregory Van der Wiel.
The 23-year-old has had already agreed personal terms with the Spanish outfit earlier last month. However, the two clubs have thus far failed to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
Los Che are reportedly willing to pay 10 million Euros for the highly-rated right-back, but the Amsterdam giants are unwilling to let go of their prized asset for anything less than 12 million Euros.
Hakim Slimani, Van der Wiel's agent, has revealed that the Amsterdammers’ decision to reject the latest offer from Valencia has distressed his client, and argued that the club management should finalise the deal as quickly as possible.
“Maybe Ajax are hoping that another club will make an offer, but Gregory has already made his decision, and wants to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863. It would be good if this can be finalised shortly, so Gregory can focus on Ajax again”, Slimani was quoted as saying to the
media.
Van der Wiel, who has an ongoing contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the summer of 2013, would be hoping that his side manage to reach an agreement over his alleged move.
The 23-year-old is a product of De Joden renowned youth academy, Jong Ajax. He started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2007/08 season and made rapid development in his game, securing a starting eleven berth in the Amsterdammers line-up.
The right-back has thus far made more than 100 Eredivisie appearances for Ajax and managed to hit the back of the net on 10 occasions. His consistent good performances at the back have attracted interest from a host of elite European clubs including English
Premier League duo, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester City.
However, the Dutch International chose Valencia to nurture his skills further and agreed to sign a five-year deal with La Liga outfit.
