Ajax Amsterdam table yet another bid for AZ Alkmaar’s Kolbeinn Sigthorsson – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports from Alkmaar confirm that Ajax Amsterdam have increased their offer to acquire AZ Alkmaar’s Kolbeinn Sigthorsson. The Amsterdammers had earlier tabled two bids to lure the Icelandic International away from AZ Stadion, but the AZ management turned
down both the offers, demanding an improved bid for the forward.
The newly-crowned Eredivisie champions have been in search of a striker to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mounir-El-Hamdaoui-c26905, whose departure looks imminent. The Ajax management sees the 21-year-old as an ideal replacement for the Moroccan International, who performed brilliantly
in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571’s attacking third. The AZ management rates their prized asset at 5 million Euros, while the Amsterdammers reportedly offered 3.5 million Euros earlier this month for the 21-year-old.
Frank de Boer, De Joden manager, revealed that his side had increased their offer and the Icelandic International would likely be pursuing his career at Amsterdam Arena in the upcoming season.
“The bid for Sigthorsson has been increased and both the parties have agreed. There are only small things left that need to be discussed”, Boer was quoted as saying to the media.
The 21-year-old striker started his professional career at AZ Stadion in the 2010/11 season. Sigthorsson scored 15 goals in 32 appearances and the highlight of his debut season was the five-goal haul against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VVV-Venlo-c40915 earlier in the campaign.
His impressive performances in the recently concluded season did not go unnoticed as a host of European clubs expressed interest. Fulham FC, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 have all remained linked to the 21-year-old.
For their part, the AZ management has mooted all speculations by clearly stating that none of the aforementioned clubs have made any contact for the young ace’s services. The management went on to reveal that Ajax remain the only club to have launched a
serious bid.
Reports suggest that the striker would pen down a contract in the coming days that will keep him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2015. With both parties reaching an agreement on the Icelandic International’s transfer, Hamdaoui’s departure from the
Amsterdam giants now looks imminent.
