The Amsterdammers boss Frank de Boer is unwilling to risk the playmaker in their upcoming clash against Gertjan Verbeek’s men in the fourth round of KNVB beker Cup.
Ajax Amsterdam playmaker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Eriksen-c9074, sustained a slight injury during a training session on Tuesday, December 20. Consequently, the Danish starlet had to leave the training session early after spraining his ankle.
The Amsterdammers will lock horns against AZ Alkmaar in the fourth round of KNVB Beker Cup at Amsterdam Arena on Thursday, December 22.
Although reports from Amsterdam Arena indicate that the youngster’s injury is not too serious, it seems unlikely that the 19-year-old would be taking part in his side’s upcoming Dutch Cup encounter against the Alkmaar outfit.
Frank de Boer, the Amsterdam giants head coach, has immediately played down the young playmaker’s chances of participating in the match. The Dutch trainer revealed that he would take a cautious approach with the starlet.
“It's not serious, but we will not take risks with him. I saw swelling on his ankle. And the probability that he will not participate in the match is 95 percent. I want to ensure that he plays the second-half of the season”, De Boer was quoted as saying
to the media.

Gertjan Verbeek, the AZ boss, has asserted that the 23-year-old is likely to be 100 percent fit before the match against Ajax.
“Roy is feeling much better. We are hopeful that he would be fit in time. It is almost unbelievable that after so many matches, none of the players have sustained any major injuries apart from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maarten-Martens-c22997. He has also made his comeback and we are really
happy”, Verbeek said while talking to the journalists.
Both sides would be gunning to progress through to the next phase of the competition. However, the Alkmaar outfit would have a slight advantage over the Amsterdam giants, as they don't have any selection problems.
