Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has revealed that he warned his side about Real Madrid counter-attacking potential prior to the match. The Amsterdam giants received a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of la Liga giants at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday,

The Dutch Champions tried to crawl their way back into the match, but the home side’s back-line provided rock solid defence and the match ended in an easy 3-0 win for the Madrid giants.
The Amsterdammers tactician admitted that the Spanish powerhouse staged an exceptional brand of counter-attacking football.
“We saw a lesson in counter-attacking football tonight. We controlled the game well, but we had set a target to play on the counter-attack. I had already warned my team that Madrid were dangerous on the break and you have to be smarter than we were for the
first goal”, De Boer was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutch mentor then went on to admit that securing all three points at Santiago Bernabeu is not an easy task and revealed that a draw would have been an ideal result.
“When you come to Bernabeu, you know that you’re not going to take all three points. Ideal result would have been a draw. But now, we have to win our next two games to keep our hopes alive of progressing through to the next phase”, De Boer concluded.
Ajax will go head-to-head against Dinamo Zagreb in their next Champions League encounter at Stadion Maksimir on October 18.
