The talented forward’s move to Galatasaray seemed to be on the cards earlier, but the Eredivisie champions are now in the pole position to land his signature in the coming days.
Reports in the Dutch media confirm that Ajax Amsterdam have agreed terms with Heerenveen over the potential transfer of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oussama-Assaidi-c28900 in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Amsterdammers are keen to strengthen their attacking third, and earlier earmarked http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Narsingh of the Friesland outfit as an ideal addition to their squad.
However, the 31-time Dutch champions failed to agree terms with the club, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven acquired the services of the Dutch footballer of Indian descent.
With the young winger joining the Eindhoven giants, De Joden had to turn their attention elsewhere, and set their sights on the Moroccan ace.
Assaidi, who has played over 50 Eredivisie matches for the Friesland outfit since his arrival at Abe Lenstra Stadion in the summer of 2009, has a contract with his current club that is due to expire at the end of the 2012/13 campaign.
Heerenveen earlier tried to renew the 23-year-old’s contract, but the attacker made it clear that he wants to move away from Abe Lenstra Stadion, leaving no choice for the club management but to cash in on the powerful forward
rather than letting him go on a Bosman move next summer.
The former De Graafschap winger, who has represented Moroccon national football team in 22 matches as well, was set to join Galatasaray after his club agreed the transfer fee. However, the move failed to materialise, as the Turkish
club was reluctant to meet the youngster’s personal demands.
Ajax have now managed to reach an agreement with the Friesland outfit, though, they have yet to agree terms with the attacker.
Nonetheless, it seems likely that the move will materialise in the coming days. Reports indicate that the Amsterdam giants will pay in the region of five million Euros to acquire the services of 23-year-old from Heerenveen.
After agreeing personal terms, Assaidi is expected to put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2016.
