The Belgian stopper’s agent Mustapha Nakhli has made it clear that his client is only interested in moving to White Hart Lane this summer, and has revealed that the deal could be completed this week.
Ajax Amsterdam stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, has long been linked with a move to join Tottenham Hotspur before the start of the 2012/13 season. The Belgian stopper’s agent, Mustapha Nakhli, has now revealed that his client’s impending
move to the English Premier League outfit could be completed this week.
The highly-rated central defender, who started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2006/07 season, has thus far represented the Eredivisie giants in well over 100 league matches.
His consistent and rock solid performances at the back for the past couple of seasons have garnered him interest from a host of top flight clubs. However, the Belgian international expressed his desire moving to the Spurs this
summer.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy, the Lilywhites chairman, earlier visited Amsterdam Arena to complete the deal. However, he has thus far remained hesitant to match the Eredivisie champions’ asking price for the highly-talented centre-back.
Vertonghen’s agent has now revealed that his client is now only waiting for the two clubs to agree terms.
“Jan is just waiting for now. We'll travel to Tottenham once they've reached an agreement. It won't take much time to make an appointment. I hope that we can complete the deal this week. I think that's going to happen”, Nakhli
was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The Belgian international’s representative went on to insist that the Amsterdam management are asking too much for his client, whose contract is due to expire in the summer of 2013.
“Ajax is asking way too much for a player who has a contract until 2013. Fifteen million? What do you think yourself?”, Nakhli added.
Vertonghen, who has been the star performer in the Amsterdammers back-to-back Eredivisie triumph, earlier revealed his desire moving to White Hart Lane, and his agent has confirmed that his client is only interested in joining
the Spurs.
“Tottenham is the only club we are interested in. Jan sees great opportunities in London at The Spurs, so we don't look at other clubs”, Nakhli concluded.
