The Amsterdammers recorded a 2-2 draw against Heerenveen at Abe Lenstra Stadion on September 2, and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player admitted that his side played sloppy football.
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has expressed his dissatisfaction at his side’s abysmal performance against Heerenveen at Abe Lenstra Stadion on Sunday, September 2.
The Amsterdammers commenced proceedings brightly away from home, and managed to take the lead in the 13th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thulani-Serero-c35022. Moments later, the visiting side came close to scoring their second goal of the evening, but Serero’s effort
rattled the left post, much to the dismay of De Joden head coach.
Heerenveen had a perfect opportunity to level the score-line, when the referee awarded them a spot-kick in the 21st minute. However, Filip Djuricic fired well wide of the target.
Missed opportunity did not cost the Friesland outfit, as they managed to score the equaliser at the half-hour mark through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alfreð-Finnbogason-c4997.
After levelling the score-line, the hosts threatened the Amsterdammers’ back-line consistently, and took the lead at the stroke of half-time with Finnbogason netting his second of the evening.
The Amsterdam giants resumed proceedings impressively in the second-half, and Serero’s strike restored parity in the 47th minute.
However, as the second-half progressed, the Amsterdammers’ dominance faded away. Things got worse for the visiting side when the 22-year-old, who netted both of De Joden’s goals, received his marching orders in the 53rd minute for a tackle from
behind on Djuricic.
Heerenveen took full advantage of their numerical superiority, but failed to convert their dominance into goals, and the match ended in a 2-2 draw at the end.
De Boer admitted that his side staged a below par performance, while stressing that his side missed numerous goalscoring opportunities in the opening half-hour of play.
“We helped Heerenveen in bagging a point. We gave away so many chances, and we played very sloppy football. The penalty, the goals, and the opportunities, all were unnecessary given away. They have to thank us for all that”
“After scoring the first goal, we could have scored at least two more. Even with ten men, we go plenty of chances. But at the end, I am glad that we managed to bring a point with a man less on the pitch. Overall, I am not satisfied with our performance”,
the Dutch trainer was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
