The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player insists that his side still needs to gain a lot despite winning the title twice in a row, while stressing that he would like to see his side win the title this term a few weeks before the end of the season.
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has expressed his aim for the 2012/13 campaign that he wants to lift the Eredivisie title at the end of the ongoing season to make his side Dutch champions for the third time in a row.
The 42-year-old tactician, who took over the managerial hot seat at Amsterdam Arena in December 2010 from Martin Jol, has led De Joden to two back-to-back Eredivisie titles.
However, the Dutch mentor has now made it clear that he wants his side to be crowned Dutch champions yet again.
“Stagnation means decline. It's that simple. It's nice to be champions twice in a row, but there is still much to gain. It is in my nature to never be satisfied, therefore it would be nice if we won it this year a few rounds before the end championship”,
De Boer was quoted as saying to the media.
Ajax won the title on the final day of the 2010/11 season, when they defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede 3-1 to become Dutch champions for the 30th time in their history.
The Amsterdammers then went on to lift their 31st Eredivisie title on the second last match-day of the 2011/12 campaign, when they defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VVV-Venlo-c40915 2-0.
De Boer has now insisted that he wants his side to become champions before the final couple of weeks.
“That will mean we have had a good season. In 2010 we won the championship on the last match day. Last season we won it on the penultimate match day so it would be nice if we could move a little further each year”, the Dutch mentor concluded.
The Amsterdam giants commenced their 2012/13 campaign with a 2-2 stalemate against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NEC-c40018 Nijmegen at McDOS Goffertstadion on August 19.
