Ajax demand more respect from Liverpool over pursuit of Luis Suarez
Ajax have expressed their disappointment over Liverpool’s handling of their pursuit of Luis Suarez. The Dutch club has demanded more respect from Liverpool over the negotiations. The English club has been conducting talks with
Ajax over the striker for almost a month now and a decision over the Uruguayan’s future is expected to unfold in the coming days.
Ajax have already rejected one Liverpool bid for the player and have advised the club to come up with a more realistic offer.
An Ajax spokesman said, “We'll have to wait for them to come back with something more respectful. We want to keep him at least until the end of the season and preferably for the rest of his contract. If you compare the €15 million
(£12.5 million) Liverpool want to pay for Suarez with other transfers you can imagine that it's far too low for us. Luis is our top goal scorer for the last three years and also the man with by far the most assists.”
Ajax’s general director Rik van den Boog has reportedly set a price tag of at least £25 million for 24-year-old Suarez.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is aiming to bring Suarez to Anfield in order to provide support to the club’s current lone striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707. Suarez’s versatility on the field will also provide the Liverpool manager with
more attacking options.
Dalglish has also announced this week that their Dutch striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Babel-c31971 will not be leaving the club in the current January transfer window. It was reported that the Merseyside club has shaken hands on a deal for Babel with German
club Hoffenheim. However, earlier this week when Dalglish was asked questions regarding Babel’s future he stated, "He's staying here."
Babel was also linked with a move back to his former club Ajax before the reported news of his move to Hoffenheim broke. It was speculated that the two clubs, Liverpool and Ajax, would be able to manufacture a swap deal which would
bring Suarez to Anfield and consequently Babel would join his former club.
Babel himself expressed his desire to move to Ajax last week when he stated, "The transfer of Suarez to Liverpool opens the door for me to go to Ajax. If Liverpool and Ajax whether in combination with Luis can reach an agreement
over me I will surely come to the club. For the chance to play I am willing to settle for far less pay. For a player of my age it is important to be playing week in week out."
Liverpool are also looking to bring Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam to Anfield. However, their offer to Blackpool for the Scottish playmaker has also been rejected. Blackpool has stated the same reason for rejecting the bid which
has been given by Ajax for not accepting Liverpool’s bid for Suarez.
In fact Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has stated that Liverpool will have to quadruple the £4 million being offered for the player. Adam submitted a transfer request to the Blackpool management, which has already been rejected
by the club.
Suarez too seems eager to leave Ajax as he has expressed his desire to play for an English club, and with Liverpool showing great interest in the player a deal will not come as a surprise. However, if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 wants to secure
the player's signature they will have to speed up the process as the January transfer window is approaching its close.
