The 22-year-old defender’s ongoing contract is set to expire in the summer of 2013, and the Amsterdammers sporting director Marc Overmars has made it clear that his side is keen to extend his contract.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daley-Blind-c9747 has been featuring regularly for Ajax Amsterdam since the start of the ongoing 2012/13 season due to the absence of Nicolai Boilesen.
Although, the 22-year-old made his professional career debut in the 2008/09 campaign at Amsterdam Arena after coming through the ranks of Jong Ajax, he has thus far represented De Joden in only 40 league games.
The young left-back’s ongoing contract is due to expire in the summer of 2013, but the Amsterdammers sporting director, Marc Overmars, has made it clear that his side is eager to offer the Dutch stopper a contract extension.
However, De Joden chief has revealed that his side will not offer the 22-year-old a new contract before December.
“Last summer we were going to sell Daley to an English club, but the coaching staff like him. We have talked to Daley and his father http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 (Holland's assistant coach) and agreed to see how things stand in December. We hope Daley
will develop into an even better player”, Overmars was quoted as saying to De Telegraaf.
Meanwhile, Blind, who was set to leave the Amsterdam giants in the recently concluded summer transfer window, has expressed his disappointment over not being offered a new contract thus far.
However, the Dutchman has stressed that he will surely think about prolonging his stay in Amsterdam should the club offer him an improved deal.
“This is disappointing. They have not offered me a contract thus far, and I am wondering why they haven’t. Nonetheless, I will wait and see what happens. I will surely consider if they offer me a new deal”, Blind stated while talking
to Nusport.nl.
Reports indicate that several European clubs are interested in signing the talented left-back in the upcoming January transfer window, but the 22-year-old has made it clear that he has yet to hear from any suitor, while adding
that he is currently focusing at Ajax.
“I am only focusing at Ajax”, Blind concluded.
