The Eredivisie champions sporting director Marc Overmars confirms that his side is targeting the Catalan giants’ youngster as the possible replacement for the Belgian stopper, who recently joined Tottenham Hotspur.
Reports from Amsterdam Arena confirm that Ajax Amsterdam are taking keen interest in signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814, who recently completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgian stopper had long been linked with a move away from Amsterdam Arena this summer, with several elite European clubs including AC Milan, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and the Spurs expressing
interest in acquiring the central defender’s services.
However, the highly-rated centre-back, who represented De Joden in over 150 Eredivisie appearances during his six-season stay at Amsterdam Arena, preferred moving to White Hart Lane.
The Amsterdam giants earmarked http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede centre-back, Dougals, as the possible replacements for the Belgian international.
However, the Eredivisie champions’ interest in the two defenders seems to be fading away due to their hefty asking prices, and have now reportedly set their sights on Barcelona B starlet.
Marc Overmars, De Joden newly appointed sporting director, has confirmed that reports linking his side to the Catalan giants’ youngster, but has revealed that the club has yet to decide about tabling a bid for the 20-year-old.
“The interest in Muniesa is correct, but nothing is yet decided”, De Joden chief was quoted as saying to De Telegraaf.
The youngster, who has also represented La Liga giants in two matches, has thus far represented the Barca B in well over 50 matches, providing rock solid defence while netting four goals along the way.
The Spanish stopper has an ongoing contract at                 Mini Estadi Barcelona that runs until the summer of 2013. Reports indicate that the Amsterdammers will have to pay in the region of 3.5 million Euros to acquire the
services of the starlet before the 2012/13 season kicks-off.
If rumours are to be believed, Ajax are also keeping tabs on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bram-Nuytinck-c7973, who has been plying his trade at McDOS Goffertstadion since the summer of 2009.
