Ajax looking to target Bas Dost, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Ryan Babel as a replacement for Luis Suarez
Ajax are eyeing Bas Dost, Eidur Gudjohnsen or Ryan Babel as contingency plan for a replacement in case of Luis Suarez’s departure from the Dutch club.
The Godenzonen are seeking replacement because the English Premier League club, Liverpool FC are taking extra ordinary interest in the Uruguayan player. But the Amsterdam side, keen to keep the possession of the player, have demanded a heavy amount for his
departure. Liverpool, although very concerned in acquiring the striker, have not shown any signs of agreeing to the massive 25 Million Euros asking price. However, the negotiations are still underway and both the parties might come to an agreement in the near
future.
Keeping the worst-case-scenario in their minds, the Dutch are seeking replacements for the 23-year-old. Currently, Ajax are eyeing the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Heerenveen-c40463 striker, Bas Dost to be their first choice as a stand-in for the Uruguayan. The Dutch player however, has
shown splendid performance this season and his club might not be in the position to sell him to the Amsterdam side. With almost half of the season remaining the Heerenveen-native club will be fighting to get to the top three positions in the coming days. With
eight wins and six losses to date, the Heerenveen side have secured 30 points, eight points behind the current number three, Ajax.
Bas Dost joined the current club last year, when he left http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heracles-Almelo-c39520 for good. During his stint at Heerenveen, he has managed seven goals in seventeen appearances. Whereas, in the previous club he netted the ball a decent seventeen times in sixty-one
matches. He started his professional career in 2007 with Emmen. The 21-year-old has also had the honour of serving in the Dutch under-21 national team.
In case of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bas-Dost-c7339’s unavailability, Ajax have lined-up two more choices, the Icelandic forward Eidur Gudjohnsen and another Dutch player, Ryan Babel.
Eidur Gudjohnsen currently plays for English Premier League club, Stoke City FC. The last couple of years have not been so bright for the Reykjavik-native but he has still got the flare in him to play swiftly on the field. The 32-year-old has had a 15-year
long career, but the best stretch had been with the English club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC. During the six year stint with the Blues, he tallied 54 goals in 186 games. He has also served the Icelandic national team from 1996. He surpassed the record of the compatriot, Rikardur
Jonsson, for scoring the most goals in international matches. He also bears the only record in the world of replacing his father as a substitute once.
Because of Eidur’s advanced age though, the Dutch club might prefer the third option. The 24-year-old Ryan Babel is currently playing for Liverpool and might be a reasonable exchange with the Uruguayan. Babel has already played for Ajax from 2004 to 2007
and could prove to be the most suitable choice at hand. If Ryan does make the move, then he would not have any problems with adjusting to his former club, since he is already well aware of the ins and outs at the Eredivisie side. This profound knowledge that
he has about the club could prove to be just what he needs to be an instant success at Ajax, once again. He has been in national football teams of various age brackets since 2002. He first joined the under-17 version of the team in 2002 and in 2005 he was
called-in for the senior team where he tallied five goals.
Ajax will have to act quickly, because if Luis is to go to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Babel-c31971 could prove to be the best choice at hand.
