Ajax playmaker Eriksen on Tottenham radar

Tottenham Hotspur defender and the former Ajax star Jan Vertonghen believes that the Danish wonder kid will be a huge hit at White Hart Lane if he joins them in the January transfer window.
Spurs are reportedly weighing up a £20 million move for the Danish starlet, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Eriksen-c9074, who was Vertonghen's teammate at Ajax. With the January transfer window fast approaching, it looks like Tottenham may officially make a bid for the 20-year old
attacking midfielder.
However, Ajax may not be willing to part ways with their little diamond, and with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Manchester United, AC Milan and Real Madrid also interested in him, Spurs face a stiff competition to land the midfield maestro’s signature.
Eriksen has emerged as one of Europe's most inspiring talents, and has established his name among the top up and coming players in Europe after putting in consistent performances for the past couple of seasons.
Despite being linked with a number of European clubs, Vertonghen has advised the 20-year-old playmaker to join the Spurs, and has insisted that he will be an instant hit at White Hart Lane.
The Belgian's comments have therefore sparked off a new wave of transfer rumours which now link the player with the North London club.
“Technically, he's one of the best players I've played with. He's left and right footed. He's always fit. Since he was 17-18, he's played every game for Ajax and has never been injured. When he gains a little more physical strength, he can play in every
team. He's a good player and I think a good player can play here.”
Tottenham's need for an attacking player does not entirely exist at the moment. With the likes of Clint Dempsey, Moussa Dembele, Gareth Bale, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062 already in the squad, the club has a host of attacking options.
Spurs also have a lot of ball-playing defenders who are more than capable of venturing forward and scoring on their own. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 himself proved this when he scored a fine goal against Swansea City on December 16.
The Belgian fired home a neat and well struck effort with his weaker right foot, scoring the only goal which helped Tottenham seal a much needed win.
However, there is always the possibility of a departure, and at the moment, Tottenham's most coveted and prized player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 may be one of the players who might leave the club in the summer.
The Welshman is understood to be on Real Madrid's radar, who have already acquired the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 during the summer.
Nonetheless, the Spanish giants are keen to lure the quick Welshman to Santiago Bernabeu to challenge their fierce rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, for La Liga title.
With that in mind, the Eriksen link looks credible, and Tottenham may indeed have the cash to spill if Bale ends up leavinhg. However, a January transfer looks highly unlikely.
