Ajax right-back, Gregory van der Wiel to replace Jose Bosingwa at Chelsea
Dutch outfit Ajax revealed they are prepared to sell Gregory van der Wiel, the 23-year-old defender, in the upcoming transfer window. The young right-back has been linked with Europe’s elite including English Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester United,
Manchester City, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
Serie A giants, AC Milan and La Liga outfit, Real Madrid have also been keeping an eye on Wiel, and could very well make a bid for him in the summer. Ajax has hinted they are looking to sell the player and his agent has gone on to confirm the rumours.
However, Wiel’s agent Hakim Silmani revealed that while a move in the upcoming future was imminent, he was uncertain about his client’s fate. The Dutchman has already been linked with a host of clubs from the English Premier League, Serie A and the La Liga.
Wiel’s agent said while speaking to reporters, “The situation is at the moment he is playing for Ajax and he is fighting for the Championship with four games to go. At this moment we will have to wait to see what happens in the summer.”
However, he said the player could end up in any country at the end of the campaign. He continued, “We will look to try and secure a move for him but it could be Italy, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 as well. We have no club who is 100% sure about a transfer.”
The player’s agent confirmed that while he was linked with a move away, during his time with Ajax he was doing his best to lead the side to the Championship as the season draws to a close. Wiel made his senior debut with Ajax and has made 102 appearances
for the club, scoring 9 goals.
Silmani revealed Wiel wanted to leave for a club where he would be guaranteed first team football. Keeping that in mind, English Premier League defending champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 were a likely option, with their current right back Jose Bosingwa linked with a move
away.
The Portuguese defender seems to have outlived his welcome at Stamford Bridge and will most likely leave the London club at the end of the campaign. The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.
He continued, “The problem is the majority of the top clubs in Europe have top right-backs, which make a move difficult. They are a number of top players and nobody is leaving. If (Jose) Bosingwa leaves Chelsea there will be an opening for Gregory.”
