The talented full-back’s contract with the Eredivisie champions is due to expire at the end of the 2012/13 season, and the 22-year-old is keen to sign a new deal to prolong his stay at Amsterdam Arena.
Ajax Amsterdam left-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daley-Blind-c9747, has insisted that he is eager to sign an extension to his current contract that is due to expire at the end of the 2012/13 campaign.
The 22-year-old, who came through the ranks of De Joden’s fabled youth academy, started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2008/09 season.
Initially, the youngster signed a contract that ran until the summer of 2010, but the Dutchman put pen to a contract extension in December 2008 that extended his stay at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2013.
With his current deal with the 31-time Eredivisie champions set to expire at the end of the upcoming season, Blind has expressed eagerness to prolong his stay in Amsterdam.
“I had a brief chat with the coach before pre-season kicked off. I intend to sign a new deal with Ajax, and the club have the same intention”, Blind was quoted as saying to De Telegraaf.
The Dutch stopper went on to stress that he will put in his hundred percent, and will grab every opportunity to cement his place in the playing XI.
“I'm only focusing in playing football for now, though. I will have to grab every chance I get. I have to convince the coach that I have what it takes to replace Jan [Vertonghen]. I know that I have the quality”, Blind concluded.
Meanwhile, the Amsterdammers head coach, Frank de Boer, has confirmed that his side is willing to offer the young full-back an extension to his current contract.
“Daley is not as quick and strong as Jan just yet, but it's up to us whether he can reach that level. We will open talks as soon as we've wrapped up our other transfer dealings”, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 star said while talking to

The promising full-back has thus far played 25 Eredivisie games while donning the jersey of Ajax Amsterdam.
