Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has stressed that he wants to stay at Amsterdam Arena, and has turned down the opportunity to become Kenny Dalglish’s successor at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
The Merseyside club sacked the Scot from his managerial post at Anfield last week after a disappointing 2011/12 season that saw the Reds finish eighth on the league table.
De Boer, who has led the Amsterdam giants to two successive Eredivisie titles since taking over the managerial hot seat from Martin Jol in December 2010, was thought to be the Reds primary target for the head coach position at Anfeild along with Swansea
City’s Brendon Rodgers.
However, the Dutch mentor has made it clear that he does not intend to leave De Joden at this point, and has stressed that he has no plans of parting ways with the Amsterdammers in the coming years.
“I am honoured by the request, but I am only just starting with Ajax. In Amsterdam we are on a new path along with the club and Wim Jonk and Dennis Bergkamp, my colleagues on the technical side. That’s why I will stay loyal to Ajax in the coming years”,
De Boer was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.
The 42-year-old tactician is not the first to snub a move to the Merseyside club, as Swansea head coach Brendan Rodgers also turned down the opportunity to lead the Reds in the 2012/13 campaign.
