Ajax Amsterdam right-back, Gregory van der Wiel, has been heavily linked with a move away from Amsterdam Arena in the upcoming summer transfer window, with AS Roma, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester United said to be his keen admirers.
However, the highly-rated right-back has made it clear that he has yet to receive any concrete offers.
The 24-year-old, who has been plying his trade at Amsterdam Arena since the summer of 2007, has thus far represented De Joden in over 100 matches, while netting 11 goals along the way. His consistent performances have garnered
him interest from a host of elite European clubs.
Van der Wiel, however, has now insisted that he does not know where he will be playing next season, as none of the interested clubs have approached him or the club to lure him away from Amsterdam Arena this summer.
“Not a single club has shown a concrete interest in signing me so far, so I don't know where I will play next season”, the Dutch stopper was quoted as saying to goal.com.
The defender's teammate, Jan Vertonghen, has also been linked with a move away from the Eredivisie champions in the upcoming summer transfer market. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Newcastle United, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are reportedly interested in signing the Belgian International this summer.
However, the Dutch International has made it clear that Vertonghen has also yet to join a club, and they have not bid farewell to the Amsterdam giants.
“I have not said farewell to the club yet, and neither has http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814. We had agreed not to do so with the players whose future is still undecided”, Van der Wiel added.
The Dutch stopper, who recently returned to action after remaining sidelined for almost three months due to an injury, is eagerly awaiting EURO 2012.
“I have a week off now and will then turn my focus to Euro 2012. I am really looking forward to it, especially to joining the other lads again”, Van der Wiel concluded.
