The 24-year-old has long been linked with a number of European clubs including Chelsea, Newcastle, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 and Bayern Munich, but his lack of transfer progress is making the right-back frustrated.
Ajax Amsterdam right-back, Gregory van der Wiel, has long been linked with a move away from Amsterdam Arena this summer, following his consistent showings at the back for the past couple of seasons.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Newcastle United, Valencia and Bayern Munich have expressed keen interest to acquire the Dutchman’s services this summer.
However, the Dutch international has now expressed his frustration at his lack of transfer progress.
“Playing at Ajax was always my dream, but now the club is making life difficult for me. Unfortunately, the policy of the club is not beneficiating their youth players. I am always surprised why the Ajax youth players receive fewer
salaries as compared to the players who come from elsewhere”, Van der Wiel was quoted as saying to Nusport.nl.
The Dutch stopper, who has thus far played well over 100 Eredivisie matches while donning the jersey of De Joden, has a contract at Amsterdam Arena that is due to expire in the summer of 2013.
Reports indicate that the Amsterdammers management is keen to offer the right-back a new deal, but Van der Wiel has made it clear that he will not prolong his stay in Amsterdam.
“When you go on to celebrate your 24th birthday, you expect a nice, lucrative contract from your club. That certainly will keep you happy, but it seems unlikely that I would be hearing any good offer from the club now”,
Van der Wiel concluded.
The highly-talented wing-back had a poor outing with his National Football team at Euro 2012 in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032. Not only his own performance was below par, his entire side failed to perform at their best and were knocked out
from the competition from the group stages after suffering three defeats in a row against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984.
Van der Wiel was extremely disappointed with his own performances, as he wanted to establish himself as one of the best right-backs in Europe.
