The Dutch stopper’s representative Hakim Slimani has stressed that a number of La Liga clubs are interested in acquiring his client’s signature this summer.
Ajax Amsterdam right-back, Gregory van der Wiel, has been performing consistently for the past couple of seasons. His rock solid showings have attracted him interest from a host of top European clubs.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 came closest to lure the Dutch stopper away from Amsterdam Arena, but Los Che failed to meet the Amsterdammers asking price while the 24-year-old recently turned down an offer from the Giallorossi.
His agent, Hakim Slimani, has now revealed that the highly-rated full-back is open for a summer move to La Liga champions, Real Madrid, if a good offer comes in.
“Real Madrid are an absolute top club, and Greg wants to move to a top club. There are about 10 top clubs in Europe, and a number of those clubs have shown an interest in signing him. I can't say which teams are after him, and
what the status of their interest is, though”, Slimani was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.
Recent reports in the Spanish media indicate that Los Blancos are taking keen interest in signing the Dutchman before the start of the 2012/13 campaign to provide cover for their first choice right-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Arbeloa-c5282.
The Madrid giants head coach, Jose Mourinho, was forced to use http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamit-Altintop-c15652 at the right-back position in the absence of Arbeloa in the recently concluded campaign.
The Dutch International’s agent has also stressed that his client is ready to take the next step in his career.
“He has won two league titles and is ready to make the next step in his career. Euro 2012 is coming up and it is the ideal stage to show his qualities. We'll look at the possibilities after the tournament”, Slimani concluded.
Van der Wiel has a contract with De Joden that runs until the end of the 2012/13 season, and the club management are ready to cash in on their prized asset this summer.
