The 26-year-old glovesman praised his side’s efforts on the pitch against the German champions, but admitted that conceding a goal in the closing stages of the match was extremely frustrating.
Die Borussians commenced proceedings brightly, but their early dominance faded away as the game progressed. The Amsterdam giants, on the other hand, managed to enjoy majority of ball possession, but failed to break the deadlock
as well in the opening 45 minutes.

“Of course we're disappointed. We played well, so to concede a goal three minutes before time was frustrating. We thought things might go our way [when Dortmund missed the penalty] and things were going well, at least until the
end”, Vermeer was quoted as saying to UEFA.com
The Dutch shot-stopper, who has thus far played close to 100 games while wearing the Amsterdammers colours, went on to insist that his side will only make progression to the next phase of the competition if they manage to win their
next games.
“The only way we can qualify is to win our next games, but we know we're up against some tough teams. We have to play our own game and try to get results”, Vermeer added.

“I'm really enjoying games like this in the Champions League. They're the best games a football player can be involved in”, Vermeer concluded.
