Reports from Amsterdam Arena confirm that Nicolai Boilesen has signed an extension to his ongoing contract at Ajax. The 20-year-old’s previous deal was due to expire in the summer of 2013, but the new contract will keep him at
Amsterdam Arena until the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
The promising young left-back, who joined the Amsterdam giants’ youth academy in the summer of 2010 after spending six years at Brondby, has thus far donned the jersey of De Joden in only 10 Eredivisie matches before a torn hamstring
forced him to sit on the sidelines in the 2011/12 campaign.
Despite enjoying modest of playing time, the Danish international convinced his side’s head coach, Frank de Boer, with his performances on the pitch and in the training grounds that he is worthy of a new contract.
The Dutch mentor, who took the reins of the Amsterdam giants in December 2010 after Martin Jol stepped down from his managerial position, was all praise for the youngster, and revealed that the left-back will prove his worth at
Amsterdam Arena in the years to come.
“Nicolai left a big impression on us in those few matches and many training sessions, and he still does”, De Boer was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
Boilesen, who has thus far represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 in two matches, was also pleased after signing a new contract, and revealed that he is working extremely hard to regain full fitness.
“This is fantastic. This is a highlight of my recovery. Luckily I am progressing in the right direction. I train very hard twice a day. Now, I only think positive”, the Danish international was quoted as saying to the media.
Ajax will commence their Eredivisie title defence against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar at Amsterdam Arena on August 12. Boilesen will be hoping to regain 100 percent match fitness before his side start the 2012/13 season.
